I can’t believe it’s been a whole year since I started my business. It feels surreal to look back and realize how much has changed—how much I’ve learned, grown, and evolved—not just as a music therapist, but as a businesswoman.

Through endless follow-ups to secure contracts and get invoices paid, I’ve learned that running a business requires patience—and a strong tolerance for frustration.

Through working closely with parents, hearing about their challenges, hopes, and heartaches, I’ve learned that being a businesswoman also requires empathy.

Through serving amazing clients and witnessing the impact of music therapy, I’ve learned that the core of my business will always be the work itself—the connection, the healing, the joy.

Through navigating a completely new lifestyle, balancing admin tasks, marketing, documentation, and everything in between, I’ve learned that this path demands flexibility.

And by showing up every single day—whether I’m energized or exhausted, confident or uncertain—I’ve learned that building something meaningful requires consistency and commitment.

This year, I truly became a businesswoman—on my own terms.

There have been lows: slow months, overdue invoices, service terminations. There have been highs: breakthroughs with clients, my biggest paycheck to date, and a steady stream of new referrals. But through it all, I’ve learned that success isn’t just financial—it’s emotional, relational, and deeply personal.

I’m proud of what this year has taught me: to stay kind, empathetic, consistent, and grounded. Running my own business has been more rewarding, more humbling, and more fulfilling than I ever imagined.

Here’s to another year of growing, learning, and doing what I love—one session, one connection, one song at a time.
